About the Lesson & Learning Objectives
This is the anticipated lesson segment for Twain High School English Language Arts Quarter One. Week two is focused on Community Mapping. All activities will center around defining community, identifying resources and needs in their communities, and familiarizing students with the instructional framework for the year.
-
Students will be able to define community by creating and mapping the resources and needs that exist within their communities. They will review the year’s learning objectives and trajectory.
-
Students will read and analyze an interview excerpt about community from the UCSD Race and Oral History Project interview with Maryan Osman; they will explore how the details from the text provide insight into how an individual perceives and builds community.
-
Cultivate well-being by exploring the assets and needs within their communities.
Conceptualize the connections within their communities by reflecting on and sharing their community assets and needs.
